When it comes to branding, there is one very important question you have to answer; who are you? Of course, this is a loaded question and one that may have different answers over the years, but when it comes to your brand it is a question people are asking about you every day. They want to know who you are and why they should follow you.
Often times we try to be what we think people want to see. We post information that feels right as opposed to the truth and what is more closely aligned with who we are as people and as businesses. Posting about your business is great, but people want to have something and someone to connect with.
As you work to answer this big picture question, consider the following:
- What do you want people to know about YOU?
- What do you like?
- How can you be more personal?
- What makes you you?
- Why should anyone care?
Once you have answered these questions you can begin creating content that is on message and on brand. You can then work to build an audience that fits your target market and who want to get to know you and work with you. Remember to be yourself, because everyone else is taken.
