Your Audience

A lot of people want to know the secret combination of the time of day, number of timesFriday Fact_ (96) a day and number of times a week to post on social media. Unfortunately, this is not a one size fits all kind of answer. While I am a believer in posting at least once a day for brand consistency, there are plenty of scenarios where posting more than that is appropriate.

For example, I was talking with a friend who runs a dog rescue social media account. They post up to 5 times a day some days. Before you run screaming though, consider this, do you look at pictures of cute dogs 5 times or more a day? My guess is yes, and that is precisely why it works. However, this would absolutely not work for my business or other niche businesses like mine.

So, when it comes to finding the “perfect” balance of posting on social media, you have to consider your audience. How much can they take? How much do they care? How relevant is your product or service to them 1, 2, or 3 times a day? These questions can be answered through the insights on your social media. Not only can you determine the best days and times, but you can drill down to who your audience actually is.

I believe that the more you know about your audience or target audience, the more you can get out of your social media. So, before you go posting 5 times a day, consider the facts and make an educated decision. It is easier to gain new followers than get back the ones you have lost.
