Be Flexible

As a pretty structured person, I sometimes struggle with this. I live by my lists each day and love to be truly done when I am done. Unfortunately, that is not how social media works.

The more I learn and do social media, the more I have had to embraced the “round the clock” mentality. This mentality is all about keeping up with the day to day and hour by hour. It is about staying current and sending out content regularly and often.

You can have things scheduled ahead of time, but you must be prepared to add and adapt as necessary. You have to be flexible with your approach and relevant with your timing. When it comes to social media, timing is everything.

For example, the “Laural v.s. Yanny” debate lasted about 2-3 days and then people moved on. If you are late to the party, you will not ride the wave of that trend. It is all about staying in the forefront of people’s minds.

So as you learn about and grow your social media presence, remember to be flexible. Keep your goals and overall direction in mind, but stay open new opportunities and ways to do things. Social media is ever changing, so be willing to change with it.
